I want to be the one to protect you. Keep you safe from the outside world; all that is evil and cruel, hoping to infect you. If I could keep you in my pocket, I would. But since I can’t, at least let me grasp your hand, fingers intertwined until I know it is safe for us out there.

Perhaps I need you more than you need me, but I know you desire me just the same. It’s hard to keep focused with all of these distractions. The busyness, the red lights, those strangers’ stares. Just look me in the eye, I know we will be just fine. Like the lighthouse at the edge of the sea, keep looking up towards the light, you’ll find yourself with me.
